Royal British Legion Somerset County War Memorial

 

The memorial was originally installed at Somerset Legion House, a break centre for ex-servicemen on Beach Road in Weston-super-Mare in 2007. Following the closure of Somerset Legion House the memorial was moved to Grove Park in the town centre.

In Memoriam

 

Luke Jerram’s artwork “In Memoriam” on the beach in Weston-super-Mare.

The installation is a temporary memorial to those who have died during the COVID-19 pandemic and consists of flags made from NHS bed sheets arranged in the form of a medical logo. It was commissioned by Culture Weston and University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust, and has toured the UK before arriving in Weston-super-Mare as part of Weston Arts + Health Week.
